We’re happy to report that the next issue of 3x3 Magazine is at the printer and will be soon in the mail. This issue features Armando Veve, Feifei Ruan and Hudson Christie along with our issue’s ICON, Hanoch Piven. This issue expands to 88-pages to accommodate a new feature on 70s illustrators with the late Jean-Michel Folon as our first and an expanded Seen & Noted section featuring eighteen illustrators.

Other features include how to find your voice, industry news with an inside look at Olaf Hajek’s work for Meissen Porcelain and a round up of recent show winners from the Art Director’s Club and 3x3 Show 18. And as per usual, our book reviews on new releases in art and design.

It’s not too late to subscribe, we still have a few issues left of Issue 26 featuring Brian Stauffer, Sandra Dionisi, Jon Han and ICON Martha Rich—you won’t miss a single issue if you subscribe now.

And coming up next, Keith Negley, Johanna Goodman and Ivan Canu, with Serge Bloch as our ICON, along with the medalists in 3x3’s International Illustration Annual 18.

3x3 International Illustration Annual
Call for Entries - Now Open

We’re ready to accept entries in our 2021 Show. The judges are lined up, the Call for Entries is online, and in the mail soon.

Thanks first go to Sisi Yu for the wonderful image corresponding to this year’s theme: It’s All About the Art.

And second, to our fine list of art directors and illustrators who have graciously agreed to judge this year’s show. Art Directors Aviva Michaelov, The New Yorker; Stefano Cipolla, L'Espresso magazine and Stéphanie Ponge-Pécout, Psychologies magazine, both from France; Coralie Bickford-Smith, Designer, Penguin Random House, the United Kingdom and Digital Lead Designer, Kory Kennedy, Hearst Enthusiast Group. Our illustrator jury members includes Andrea Ventura, Germany; Jules Julien and Joost Swarte, both from The Netherlands; Éric Giriat, France/Germany and Dale Stephanos.

This year’s jury will judge both the professional and student show in our new streamlined judging process.

Same expanded categories as in the past giving entrants a more level playing field. Our show is open to all illustrators at all levels in all countries with two distinct categories: Professional and Student—last year our judges reviewed entries from over fifty countries and 114 schools in twenty-three countries. In addition to illustrators our Show is open to all art directors, graphic designers, educators, editors and publishers.

Our Best of Show winner receives a $1500 cash award and gold medal winners receive a $750 cash-value award. Best of Show and Gold Medal winners receive our distinctive 3x3x3-inch cube. All medal and merit winners will be featured in Annual 18 in print and eBook editions as well as our online gallery; Honorable Mentions will be listed in the Annual and displayed online. Art directors receive a complimentary copy of the eBook.
